Denver Christmas and an Airport New Year's!!

So I know this is like 3 weeks past due, but I've been a little busy!

Anyhoo, as always, I made my annual trek out to Denver for Christmas. This year I flew out again on Christmas Eve, and just as a note if your ever in NYC, do NOT fly out of Newerk Airport. It is a total pain in the ass to get to, as in 3 different trains!!

After 4 fun filled hours in coach, I landed in DIA and with a happy surprise my older brother John picked me up at the airport.

John (who has live in Springfield, MO since I was 8) flew out the day before to spend Christmas with us for the first time in 20 years!!! This was also the first Christmas TJ and Abby got to spend with him, so this was really special for my family.

Our Christmas Eve was filled the usual traditions, Fondue and our Annual showing of White Christmas!!

Christmas morning was the same stockings, presents, Mommy's fantastic homemade cinnamon rolls, and the playing with our new toys!! This year's new toy... a Wii!! We wasted no time in setting that up and then watching me totally suck in Tennis, its official, me and Tennis in any form do not go together. Bowling on the other hand, that is my sport ( Jon M if you read this, just remember to never bet against me again!).

We had dinner at my Aunt & Uncle's house and then headed out to see James Cameron's newest hit 'Avatar' in IMAX 3D. Yes, the movie was beautifully done, but the storyline was a little boring.

Anyway, the rest of the weekend was filled with my family spend A LOT of time together since John was in town!!!

Sunday night was reserved for my bi-annual Hot Tubbing/Bar Hopping with Brittany!!

I finished my week long trip with spending time with Jana and new baby Weston!! As well as seeing New Moon for the 10th time with Brittany!!!

My New Year Eve was mostly spent in DIA!! Due to an ice/snow storm that hit New York, all outgoing flights were delayed. This meant my 11:30am flight didn't leave till a little after 3pm MST, which means I spent around 5+ hours sitting in the A concourse. Nikki and I did some mental math and figured that in 2009 I spent a little over 24hrs in airports if you total all my time in them.

Due to my nicely delayed flight and the headache inducing luggage retrieval time at JFK, then add in the holiday subway schedule, I got back to my apartment around 11pm. Meaning I had no time to get to Brooklyn to ring in the New Year!!

The lesson I learned, fly out either on the 30th or Jan 1st but never on Dec 31st.

I had a great 2009, I spent it with awesome friends (new and old) and family. I got to see 2 of my best friends get married, and started new adventures in NYC.

I'm looking forward to everything 2010 brings me.

XOXO ~ Misti

Super Busy - Don't Hate Me!!!

Okay, I know its been a while since I've updated this blog, so please don't hate me (even anyone still reads this ;-) )

I've had a ton going on!! First off, my Mom and her BFF Jan came to visit in the beginning of October and were here for 4 days!! I had a blast showing my Mom NYC for the first time, plus she got a kick out of fabric shopping in the Fashion district!!!

Then, my 2nd oldest brother John came to visit, we hit up Central Park, Broadway (Wicked), and spent some good ole quality time together!!

Halloween was a big time for me. This was the first year I walked in the Annual NYC Halloween Parade!! What was I you ask... Vampire Lil Miss Muffett, however everyone thought I was Strawberry Shortcake. My friends though, had the best costume, they all went as character from the video game Mario Cart (with complete carts).

Other then that, I've been super busy at work, and trying to keep all my websites updated!!!

Next up is Thanksgiving, I'm hitting up the D.C. area to spend time with my Aunt & Uncle down there!!

XOXO,
M

P.S. Me on Halloween!!!

GlamourCow:Makeup Artist Memoirs: Playing With Makeup In Denver

This fall = fun, warm, smokey looks. I recently heard about beautyADDICTS & figured I'll give it a whirl.

On a recent trip home to denver, I played with makeup & had a photoshoot.

Get the look using beautyADDICTS Motivate Fall line:

1. Starting with the Solution Eyes palette; start with lightest shade in the upper left corner. Apply this color all over the lid, from lash to Brow.

Next moving clockwise, apply the next shade from lash line to crease. Apply the "gray" shade in your crease going about 3/4 of an inch. Use the dark purple first in the outer crease bringing to the outer eye and bring down into the lower lash. Then you will also smudge the same color into your lash line after applying black liner to both upper & lower lash lines.

Create The Look by Misti: Jouer

From GlamourCow.com

Jouer Daytime

So for those of you who don't know, GC's writer, Misti, is also a professional makeup artist. A few weeks ago she had created a few looks for Jouer's new line, which is sold exclusively in Bendels.

Over the next week, we'll be highlighting some of the best looks Misti created with Jouer's new collection.

Get the look: Daytime with Jouer by Misti.

If you like me and work a 9-5, getting ready in the morning needs to be quick & painless (because those extra 10 minutes of sleep are crucial!).

Using Jouer's new line, this look done on model, Abby, is simple & perfect for work & can be done is 10 minutes.

1- Start with the appropriate color Jouer moisture tint

2- Apply "Bloom" cheek color to your cheeks

3- Apply "Toffee" eyeshadow on both the lids blending up into the crease

4- Smudge "truffle" eyeshadow into your upper lash line

5- Apply "Noir" mascara to upper lashes only

6- Finish off this look with "Oasis" lip gloss

So simple that even the busiest Worknista's can do this!

Collier Strong Interview

Misti, Collier Interview

This past Friday, Collier Strong, world-renowned makeup artist, joined L'oreal & Walgreens in Times Square for a day of beauty in recognition of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Hundreds of people enjoyed complimentary beauty consultations and mini-makeovers featuring L'Oréal Paris' Color of Hope cosmetics collection, which benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).

I had the awesome opportunity to interview Collier Strong!!!

Interview with Collier Strong, L'oreal Paris Makeup Artist, Project Runway:

GC:Who is your favorite Beauty Icon?

CS: Elizabeth Taylor. There was a picture of Ms. Taylor with Purple eyeshadow, Lavender lipstick, and tangerine lip liner. Her lips just looked that were just dripping with gloss. I've also had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth Taylor, which as a Florida boy, was amazing.

GC: Best makeup by staple from the L'oreal Color of Hope Collection?

CS: I think the whole collection should be in everyone's bag. $1 of every product sold goes to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).

I designed the collection around Hope Teal (the color symbolizing ovarian cancer awareness and created 2 different looks that you can mix and match with.

The first collection is for adventurous and fun with the second collection being more everyday ready-to-wear, for all skin tones. What's nice about this collection is that you can wear just one or two pieces and look fabulous.

GC: What are the looks you've seen that you've been liking for the fall season?

CS: The red vamp lips (Dior Show) with not a lot of eye makeup. All the throwback's to the 80's that we've been seeing.

To coincide with National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, L'Oreal Paris' Color of Hope Cosmetics Collection will be available for purchase beginning in September 2009. The entire Color of Hope Cosmetics Collection will be available at mass-market retailers nationwide, including Walgreens, CVS, and Wal-Mart, while supplies last.

Why NYC Fashion Week Rocks!!!

So NYC Spring 2010 Fashion Week just ended and it was awesome. This was the 4th Fashion Week since I've moved to NYC and the first one that I've gotten to be involved with anything!!!

It started off last week, when I got to go to the 'Abbey Dawn for Avril Lavigne' fashion show on Monday 9/14. The show was awesome and I saw Nikki Hilton and designer Tommy Hilfiger.

Next up was the Glamour Cow Fashion Week Launch Party @ the W Hotel!! The party was awmazing, we had such a good turn out!!! The pictures will be on the GC and MistiSchindele.com later this week. I brought out Brittany Lamson to shoot the event!!!

The week ended on a high note, when I got a last minute invite to interview Makeup Artist Collier Strong!!! If you don't know who that is, then let me explain, Collier Strong is the Head Consulting Makeup Artist for L'Oreal Paris and has been featured several times on the hit show Project Runway!!! He created a new line for L'Oreal Paris called the 'Color of Hope Color Collection' to support Ovarian Cancer Research!!! That interview will also be up on GC and MS later this week as well!!!

So there you have it, I got a fashion show, and interview and a fab party!!!

I also had an awesome time with Brittany and was soo happy she could make it out!!!

Stay tuned for links to the pictures and interviews!!!

XOXO,
M
