Twilight - Best books since Harry Potter

So it is really rare when I find a book or series of books that can a)hold my attention longer that 20mins and b)make me re-read them over and over again cuz I can't seem to get the words out of my head.
The last time this happened was with the Harry Potter series.
I was looking at mtv.com a few weeks ago and I noticed in their movie section, there were all these postings about the new movie Twilight (due out in Dec 08). I started reading the article's published on it and saw that the movie is based of the 2005 novel of the same name.
Reading further I found that there is are 3 (soon to be 4) books in this series, and that it is about Vampires. Now those who know me really well know that I have this weird obsession with Vampires, I love them. I have seen almost every Vampire movie out there as well as read most the books that involve them. So imagine the look on my face when I see that there is a new Vampire series out there.
So, then I started thinking, how did I not know these books existed. Easy, the first book in the series was released in 2005, right in the middle of the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince novel was released and HP 4 movie came out. I was so involved with those that I didn't even look to see what other books were being released.
After reading the MTV.com articles and reading a little bit on the web, I went and bought all three books in the series, and go figure, I couldn't put them down. I finished all three books in about 3 1/2 days, and I am now re-reading them (more slowly this time).

I highly recommend that people go buy these books, I haven't read such a good love story in a really long time. Also keep an eye out for the movie.

I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

Well I asked for a distraction...

So, here I am going about my normal day at work, trying to keep my mind clear of all the events from the weekend.

Earlier today I was thinking, gee it would be nice if I had a distraction, well the clouds parted in the sky and I got one...a big one.

Seems somehow someone in the world thought it would be a good idea to give my personal email address to my biological father.

So, picture the look on my face when I got to check my email and find and email from a b. burch, now I'm thinking there are a ton of b. burch's out there in the world, but it was at that moment my heart stopped.

This is a man who I have no real memory of and truthfully have never wanted to meet. I have a Dad and father in my life. I don't really need this guy coming back into it.

So, there we have it, I guess next time when i ask for a distraction, I should be a little more specific.

PS...for those of you have have my personal email address, it will be a changing soon.

So,,,this time I lasted 4 rounds in the rink

This time I was able to keep a guy from running as fast as he can from me for 4 dates, this is an all new record.

But now here I am typing away trying to figure out it he did find me to be too much trouble or if I'm reading too much into things. Either way, I'm a little blue this Saturday evening and wish I had my girls here with me to cheer me up and watch movies with.

I really like this one, silly me to get so attached, I let my guard down a little too much on this one, and now those walls are back up and even thicker than before.

Panic @ the Disco - Best Concert Ever

I have been looking forward to tonight for sooooo long. Tonight was the Honda Civic Tour with Panic @ the Disco, one of my all time favorite bands. This is the first time I been able to see them live; I missed their last tour due to my stupid knee.

I think this was one of the best live shows I've ever been too, I had so much fun (which is good cuz I was all by myself).

Anyways... I love PATD!!!!!!

Karaoke = Awesome

Nothing really beats singing our heart out to old school 80's jams to a group of drunken strangers. Yet, I love it, I get such a thrill of being put on the spot like that and hoping I don't suck.

Therefore karaoke = awesome

Welcome...instant replay of the last 2 months

Alright...first off a recap of the events over the last 2 months:

End of Feb. my little brother TJ came to New York. Mainly so he could attend the open house of AMDA, the college he has applied for, but also to vist me, his favorite older sister (sorry Kay ;-) )

We had soooo much fun, after my adventure of getting to JFK airport, which included me getting on the subway, getting lost in the gehto of Queens, taking 2 different buses, and finally getting there. We went to see RENT, times square, Rockfeller Center, and a comedy show. The open house at AMDA was awesome and TJ loved it. The downside to all this was within 24hrs of TJ flying in I got sick, which was awesome.

Mid-March - Google completed its 3.4 billion dollar buyout of Doubleclick, the company I worked for. We as employee's got a whole 20 mins of Woo Hoo time before the news of there will be a reduction of headcount...fancy talk for layoffs.

Easter weekend - My first trip back to Dallas, TX since 1983 (?), this trip was mainly put in place so I could see one of my closest friends Hosanna. It had been almost 2 yrs since we had seen each other. This was a good weekend for me for a few reasons:

1) Helped me get over my fear of going back to TX ("He who shalled not be named" still lives there.

2) I re-connected with Hosanna, which helped me deal with the whole falling out from the Denver church.

3) I had a fun vacation, and by the end of it I no longer was worried about my fate at Google (more on that later), plus I got to go to my 1st ever hockey game.

April 2nd - D day...Google/Doubleclick announced who stays and who goes....if you haven't guessed by now, I was one of those fateful 300 who got the boot. All in all, I am happy with this, I wasn't very happy at Doubleclick. Google has treated all of us who were laid off very well, and I have no hard feeling for them. I mean come on...Blogger is owned by Google.

April 14th - This was a very weird day, I woke up to find an email letting me know that by biological grandmother was passed away over the weekend. This left me with a mixed feeling, I wasn't really sad, I have no real memory of her and the only time I had ever heard from her was a few days after I turned 18.

April 16th - Two very different things happend on this day:

1)I had an interview with a company, Outsourced Ad Ops. Thanks to a fantastic former co-worker who was kind enough to pass along my information to the owner of the company. This company really impressed me, it is a small trafficking company run by traffickers, its got a nice laid by atmosphere. The best part is...after I interviewed with them that afternoon, I got hired that night, I have to say that has never happened to me before in my life.

2)My birth father contacted my mom for the first time since I was like 2. I guess she signed the guest book for his mother's death. This blind sided both of us, the only question he asked was "how is Misti doing". So, this right here answers the one question I have always wondered...Does he ever think about me, well I guess he does. For those of you wondering...no, neither me or my mom replied back, we're not that stupid.

So that brings us up to the present....I started my job almost 2 weeks ago and I love it, the company is made up of awesome people. It is a little weird going from working for Doubleclick to be a client of Doubleclick's again. I miss all the kick ass access I had to all the systems.

May is shaping up to be a very busy month for me, I have the Makeup Show NY on the 19th, my favorite little sister Abby (okay she's my only little sister) is coming to see me from the 22nd to the 27th, and I already have a kick ass weekend planned for her. Also, I finally get to go to Las Vegas!!!! A friend of mine invited me to join her the last weekend of May in Vegas, and the flight was cheap enough so I figured why the hell not.

Soooo, hope ya'll enjoyed this mini-novel I have just posted here, but keep checking back as I will update often.

Also, this will be replacing the myspace blog I had.
